Art of Mentoring

The Art of Mentoring here in Australia was inspired by a week long residential program of inter-generational cultural creativity based on nature connection. This living and learning culture of nature and self awareness, supported people to rediscover knowledge, tools and practices that enrich the relationships that allow them to sustain a culture of connection in all aspects of their lives, community and projects.

It was devised following the recognition that engaging children in nature connection programs requires supporting parents, grandparents, families and communities to also grow in this place so as to be good mentors for the younger generations.

At its core was the understanding that mentoring forms the foundation for growing connection to nature, self and community as the basis for thriving life. And that mentoring is a lost art to western culture but is at the root of indigenous cultures around the world for growing fully engaged humans.

All programs offered through this organisation aim to facilitate cultural repair using nature connection based practices. We aim to support and stimulate this across the whole country by bringing together people from all reaches of the land that they may take the seeds of regeneration back to their local communities to build a thriving life for all.

A personal note from Jon Young, Founder of the Art of Mentoring

Weve been teaching the Art of Mentoring since 1995, running multiple events each year around the U.S. and beyond. We know this is a powerful way to experience the village potential as a context for mentoring.

We all yearn for this kind of supportive experience in our lives and, studies now show that children need this kind of support and mentoring to really thrive. And, in todays world, thrive they must.
